Det 6, Tuy Hoa, and Can Tho stations are closed and re-broadcast transmitter equipment installed; and
Det 4 (Hon Tre Island) is moved to Cam Ranh Bay Air base during July and September 1971.
Det 4. Nha Trang (Cam Ranh Bay) starts television broadcasts on September 1971.
Det 5, Quang Tri, is moved to Hue and becomes operational for only limited FM and television broadcasting on November 24, 1971.

U.S. Troops begin the withdrawal from Souh Vietnam.  As a result AFVN begins to close a number of stations;

the Hue and Qui Nhon Dets are the first to go off the air in February 1972.

Det 4 (Cam Ranh Bay) closes down in April 1972.

Det 4 (Nha Trang) closes down in June 1972.
